Fun Events To Attend During The Annual Annapolis Arts Week in Maryland
Since 2017, local art-based associations have been partnering together to arrange a week-long event that encompasses all the wide-ranging artistic creativity called the Annual Annapolis Arts Week. In an effort to celebrate the beauty of Annapolis and the talented & diverse local arts community of Anne Arundel County, the beach town transforms into a refuge for art lovers with numerous art galleries, performance art studios, musicians and an array of pure talent.
On June 1st through June 8th, come participate in a string of block parties, classes & workshops, three major events/festivals, live music, art exhibits and much more. Two events that you just can’t miss are the Paint Annapolis and First Sundays Arts Festival. Try your hand at a painting competition or shop for local art during this week and experience the charm of the Chesapeake Bay from the perspective of an art connoisseur!

FLOAT Block Party
June 1 – 5:30 pm to 10:00 pm
Hosted by Prism and Circle Creatives, FLOAT is an immersive art experience & event that brings together a diverse collection of artists and creatives to share their craft while celebrating the local arts. Kick off the week in the right way and visit an array of exhibits together under a single roof. Become one with art and enjoy good food while you’re at it.
Paint Annapolis
June 1 – 9, Circle Gallery between 11 am – 5 pm
Paint Annapolis is a week-long, juried plein air painting competition that brings painters from around the world to partake in some outdoor painting while being inspired by the history & the architecture of Maryland. For 19 years it has been a premier event, joining artists and patrons of the arts together to share in the vibrancy of the bay with some light-hearted competition. First Sundays Arts Festival
June 2, All day
Bring your family to explore Annapolis’ fun artistic atmosphere where the community can come together and make purchases from almost 130 local and regional artists each month (May to November). This event is open to all, free of cost so you can enjoy live music and other street performances when you visit. See our art performance line-up.
Green Drinks Annapolis
June 4, 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at Annapolis Summer Garden Theatre
This event is for the eco-lovers and for the folks who want to make a difference. Join the Green Drinks Annapolis this month to learn more about the theme, “Unseen Danger: Plastic Pollution in the Chesapeake.” This informative talk is part of Annapolis Green’s campaign, “It Starts with a Straw,” to reduce our collective plastic footprint by saying no to single-use plastic items such as straws, beverage bottles, and bags.
Art On The Ave Block Party
June 6, 5:30 pm to 8 pm at Maryland Avenue
“Art on the Avenue” is a block party with a juried exhibition of paintings artists have done around town that day. Right by the State House dome, participants can enjoy live music, and skim through the work of the latest artists’ renderings of Annapolis and vote for their favorites.
Summer Concerts At Towne Center
June 7, 7 pm onwards at the Annapolis Towne Center
Spend summer evenings with the family during the free Friday Night Summer Concerts Series, this month. This year is extra special as they celebrate their 10 year anniversary. Come out and enjoy the sounds of the Dan Haas Band and explore the streets of Annapolis in the evening.
29th Annual Strawberry Festival
June 8, 10 am to 4 pm at Benson-Hammond House
Celebrate all things strawberry during this festival and Come enjoy music, crafts, food, wine, and our famous strawberry shortcake! As the name of the event suggests, guests are welcome to shop for a variety of strawberries and even try some tasty recipes you know you’ll take home!
